What Side Effects Are Possible With This Medication

Many drugs can cause side effects. A side effect is the unwanted response to a drug when it is taken in the normal doses. The side effects can be temporary, mild or permanent. The side effects which are mentioned below may not be experienced by everyone who takes this medication. The following side effects have been reported by at least 1% of people taking this drug. Many of these side effects can be managed and some way it can be can go away on its own. Contact the doctor if you experience these side effects and they are severe or bothersome. The pharmacist may be able to advise you on managing side effects such as:

  • Drowsiness
  • Unsteadiness or clumsiness
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Slurred speech

Though most of the side effects are listed below don’t happen very often, it could lead to serious problems if you do not seek medical attention. Check with the doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects may occurs:

  • Diarrhea
  • Behavioral changes (angry outburst, aggressiveness)
  • Abnormal thinking (delusions, disorientation, or loss of sense of reality)
  • Changes in appetite
  • Constipation
  • False sense of well being
  • Fat irregular heart beat
  • Increased watering mouth
  • Muscle spasm
  • Memory problems
  • Muscle weakness
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Rash
  • Unusual excitement, irritability or nervousness
  • Yellow eyes or skin
  • Problems with urination
  • Headache
  • Unusual tiredness or weakness

Stop this drug and seek medical assistance if any of the following side effects occurs:

  • Chest pain
  • Hallucinations
  • Skin rash on itching
  • Vision changes or drooping eyelid
  • Convulsions (seizures)
  • Swelling of lips, face, throat, lips
  • Breathing difficulties

Some people might experience side effects other than which are mentioned here. Check with your GP if you notice symptom which worries you while you are taking this drug. Remember that the GP has prescribed you this drug because he has judged that the benefit is greater than the risk of the side effects.

Get medical help right away if you have any of these serious side effects including yellowing of the seizures, skin or shallow or slow breathing. Call your doctor about the medical advice regarding adverse effects. Many of the people taking this drug may not get any side effects.
